As someone who is constantly searching f...Hi Andy,<br /><br />As someone who is constantly searching for the "holy Grail" of waterproof jackets I think everything you've said here is sensible. I'm currently onto a Berghaus ultra jacket that is basically a goretex shell (no magic there) that is a trim cut for running and has some permanent shark gill slits in the fabric on the sides to vent the internal moisture. <br /><br />In the only ultra I did last year (100km del Passatore) I changed tops at the halfway point as it was a mountain top and night was setting in and most importantly the day time top was wet from water poured over me for cooling. The dry top was all I needed to make it home.<br /><br />I think a fully waterproof bag (ignoring the obvious bodge of a plastic bag) would be something worth exploring for the manufacturers. <br /><br />In the end, apart from shoes and socks I don't think running gear needs to be that complicated (i.e. expensive).
